Candidate Filing for Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor Begins on June 13

Candidate filing for Union County Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor (2 seats) will begin at noon on Monday, June 13 and end at noon on Friday, July 1 at the Union County Board of Elections at 316-B East Windsor Street in Monroe.

Candidates must be at least 21 years old, a registered voter in Union County, and pay a $5 filing fee. Filing fees must be paid by credit or debit card.

This seat is nonpartisan, so no primary is required. The election will be held during the regular November 8, 2022 General Election.

Primary Election To Be Held May 17

A primary election will be held in Union County on Tuesday, May 17, 2022.

Voters will cast ballots in the following contests: U.S. Senate (Rep. and Dem.), N.C. Supreme Court Associate Justice Seat 05 (Rep.), N.C. Court of Appeals Judge Seat 09 (Rep.), N.C. Court of Appeals Judge Seat 11 (Rep.), N.C. House of Representatives District 055 (Rep.), Union County Board of Commissioners (Rep.), Union County Board of Education District 06 (Rep.), Union County Clerk of Superior Court (Rep.), and Union County Sheriff (Rep.).

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Union County Board of Elections will hold an Absentee Ballot meeting on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 2 p.m. at the Board of Elections office located at 316-B East Windsor Street in Monroe. The Board’s Regular meeting scheduled for 4 p.m. on May 10 has been changed to immediately follow the Absentee Ballot meeting.

Overflow Parking at Union County Early Voting Sites

Three of Union County’s one-stop early voting sites will utilize overflow parking in order to accommodate voters. We request that candidates, campaign workers, poll workers, surveyors, observers, Board of Elections and Union County staff, and all other non-voters park in the overflow areas. Signs will be posted to identify the overflow parking areas at these three locations:

Temporary Transfer of Precinct 003 Voters

During the special meeting of the Union County Board of Elections on March 18, 2022, the Board passed a resolution temporarily transferring voters residing in Precinct #003 - St. Luke's Lutheran Church to Precinct #002 - J. Ray Shute Center for the May 17, 2022 primary elections. Voters in Precinct #003 will receive mailings from the Union County Board of Elections, notifying them of the temporary change in polling place.

Precinct 009 Location Change

During the regular meeting of the Union County Board of Elections on March 8, 2022, the Board passed a resolution moving Precinct #009 - Beaver Lane VFD to the Edwards Memorial Library in Marshville for the May 17, 2022 primary elections and for future elections. Voters within Precinct #009 will receive mailings from the Union County Board of Elections office, notifying them of the polling place change. More information on the resolution can be found here.
